Gem champions

Our GEM Powers help children understand how they learn best and celebrate the learning behaviours that lead to success across our Federation. Each week, we focus on a different gem and teach pupils what it looks like in action, giving them time to practise, reflect honestly on their learning, and set goals to improve. We recognise key learning attitudes including Ruby (kindness), Diamond (independence), Sapphire (focus and determination), Emerald (resilience), Amethyst (pair work), Topaz (teamwork and oracy skills) and Opal (reflection). We encourage families to talk about the “Gem of the Week” at home too, and to share examples of children showing their GEM Powers outside of school.
